NO PLACE LIKE HOME BY DEANNA HOLLAND

“Whether the system works or it doesn’t, it didn’t work for me…”
Having just aged out of foster care, eighteen-year-old Jules finds herself homeless and broke. Shortly after her eighteenth birthday, she’s sent packing with very little money and very few personal belongings. However, with her social worker’s help, she finds a place that she can call home—temporarily. But growing up in foster care has left her emotionally scarred, and opening up to people and letting them in is not something she ever wants to do again.

Until she meets Jake. The attraction is almost instant, and he is someone she can definitely see herself falling for. But Jules quickly discovers that everything is not always as it seems, and people are rarely who they appear to be. After learning the truth about Jake, she wants nothing more to do with him. But Jake is captivated by Jules—not just because of her mesmerizing hazel eyes, but because she has unwavering strength despite the unfortunate life she’s had—and he’s not letting go that easily. He’s determined to win her heart, and with each passing day he shreds more of her resolve. With Jake’s help, Jules soon discovers that—even though she has spent most of her life parent-less and homeless—there’s no place like home…

Intriguing AUTHOR’S & THEIR BOOKS REVIEW:

This book was an amazing read. It pulls you in from the beginning and captivates you till the end. It takes you on a journey with twist and turns that the reader doesn’t see coming. It is filled with heartbreak, pain, sorrow, lust, love, confusion, and drama filled angst that will have you glued to the book, turning the pages to find out what will happen next.
Jules has grown up in the foster care system. Now that she is 18 and has aged out of the system, she dreads her last visit with her counselor, knowing that she has nowhere to go. Her counselor offers her unofficial solution to her problems; stay with a family who'd be willing to take her in on a temporary basis while she figured out where to go from here. It’s a solution that is unofficial, but feels it will work best for Jules. She tells Jules to meet her back at the office at the end of the day, and she'll take her to the family.
Jules has a few hours to kill so, she walks around the city and grabs something to eat. While she is getting food she meets this really hot guy, Jake. There is just Something about Jake that intrigues her and in turn she intrigues him. A little harmless flirting happens and they part ways, neither one ever expecting to see each other again. However, they end up running into each other again. Jules takes Jake's phone number and promises to call him. Unfortunately, Jules discoveries something that she thinks will keep her and Jake apart and doesn’t want to see him ever again.
Will Jules and Jake be able to work things out? Will they be able to follow their hearts and trust each other?
This was Deanna Holland’s debut book and what a way to start her career off. The way she writes about her characters, one can’t help but be pulled along for the journey with them. As a reader, you feel and experience everything that the characters are going through. From the very beginning I was pulled in and held captivated by this book, turning the pages to see what was going to happen next. Deanna did a wonderful job creating this book and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
